I made an offer on a one-bedroom condominium today. I’ve seen about 15 units since I started thinking about this during Heather’s last visit in mid-November, and everything was a compromise. One unit was in a perfect location, great light and on the top floor, but the price was very high for the space. Others, like the two two-bedroom apartments I saw today, would have required tens of thousands of dollars worth of work. One of the two-bedroom units would have lost all of its sunlight in a couple of years after a new, six-story condominium was completed. Some were unbelievably tiny. Some were dark.
The unit I made an offer on isn’t the largest but it’s almost the same size as my current place. It doesn’t come with a parking space, but I’m sure I can find a home for my scooter somewhere. It’s on the first floor, but it’s on the southwest corner without any obstructions to the sunlight streaming in. It’s a little farther away from the bus stop and Bauhaus (my coffee shop home-away-from-home), but it’s much closer to the heart of Capitol Hill. It’s doesn’t have a washer/dryer, but it is incredibly cute with lots of nice details, Like the door to the bathroom above.
